Mountain of Term 3 Sport, highlighted with McKinnon's dominance of Athletics Carnival
| In the past month a number of events have taken center stage in the Beachside District. None moreso than the Athletics carnival held under warm and sunny skies on Thursday September 6 at Duncan McKinnon. We have also managed to tick of such events as the Intermediate Round Robin, Squash and Table Tennis day, Year 7 Round Robin, Y8 Round Robin, as well as the finals of both. Below is a copy of the highlights of those events-
Intermediate Round Robin- Aug 14 On Wednesday Aug 14, students in Years 9 & 10 took part in the Intermediate Round Robin. Sports included Basketball and Hockey, whilst the district welcomed first timers Ultimate Frisbee and Rugby into Term 3 Intermediate Sport. All events were a huge success and we wish to increase participation in those sports next year to hopefully make them a permanent fixture on the Intermediates calander. All Intermediate Round Robin Results Beachside Athletics- Sep 6 McKinnon went into the day as favourites to go one better than their heartbreaking small defeat of 2006 however few would have expected the ease in which McKinnon managed to do so. The school won the overall honours in a canter and may have set a standard that other schools will find it very hard to overcome. Many records were broken in the near perfect conditions and i'm sure our students will no doubt continue their success early next term at the Southern Zone Athletics Championships. Squash & Table Tennis Day- Sep 10 The Squash & Table Tennis day is always a lot of fun despite the draw being complicated. The venue (MSAC) is one of the best in the Southern Hemisphere which certainly raises the standard of our students accordingly. The draw requires students to be very organised and prepared by moving around from court to court ensuring the day doesnt fall behind. Once more McKinnon seemed to walk away with most of the spoils and many of their teams now have to represent the district throughout their journey to become the states best.
